Laser Assisted Painless Root Canal Treatment

A root canal treatment is inevitable for various dental conditions like deep decay, repeated infection around old fillings or crowns, cracked or chipped teeth, and other trauma to teeth that may result in injury to the pulp. The simple principle of root canal treatment is to access a tooth's infected pulp and root canals, clean out the infected tissue and fill the empty pulp chamber and canals with a sterile filling. After this, the access is sealed and a porcelain crown is placed for additional protection and strength.

These steps are done with a dental drill and hand instruments in conventional root canal whereas with the advanced Laser Technology, a highly focused beam of light is used to destroy the infected tissues and clean the root canals. Powerful laser technology irradiates each of the canals to destroy infectious bacteria where manual instruments cannot reach and thereby increases the success of the treatment with minimal discomfort or pain.

Advantages of Laser Root Canal Treatment:

  •     More precise as laser can target the infected area with greater accuracy
  •     Preserves more tooth structure
  •     Evident decrease in bacterial counts
  •     Reduced risk of re-infection
  •     More comfortable and painless without the sound of drills
  •     Limited requirement of local anaesthesia
  •     Single sitting root canal possible in qualifying patients

Do not let the fear of drills not keep you from getting your root canal treatment done anymore. The cutting edge technology that we use with lasers have proved to be completely safe and comfortable with great recovery among our patients. So keep your anxieties at the bay by choosing Laser assisted Root Canal Treatment.

Teeth Straightening and treatment for a displaced tooth

To straighten teeth or treat displaced teeth you need an Orthodontist. So, what is the difference between a Dentist and an Orthodontist.
Dentistry is concerned with the prevention and treatment of oral diseases, including that of the teeth, supporting structures and soft tissues of the mouth. A dentist is a General Practitioner.

An Orthodontist is a Specialist Dentist dealing with the prevention and correction of irregularities to the teeth. It is a very specialised branch of dentistry.

Teeth Straightening:

Braces and surgery are the common methods of correction. Provided that the teeth and gums are strong and healthy, braces are a great option for all ages. For children, they are best, as their bodies are still growing and adaptable.
  1. Metal Braces:  these are preferred for complex alignment issues and use wire, bands and brackets. In extreme cases, head gear may be necessary.
  2. Ceramic Braces: these work the same as metal ones but are made of ceramic. They are either clear or tooth coloured, but tend to stain or break easily.
  3. Invisible Braces: these are made out of clear plastic and are specific to each person’s mouth. They are like sports mouth guards and are fitted over each tooth and have to be replaced twice monthly.
  4. Lingual Braces: the side of the teeth facing the tongue is the Lingual surface and these braces are similar to metal braces but attach to the back of the teeth. They are very expensive.

Surgery to reposition the teeth and gums is another option. However, one may still have to wear braces. If the teeth are affecting the ability to speak or chew, another type of surgery called Orthognathic surgery to realign the jaw may be recommended.

Displaced Teeth or Dental Avulsion:

This is the complete displacement of teeth from the jaw bones, often due to trauma. This is considered an emergency treatment. Immediate replantation is the best option.

When this is not possible, replacement with artificial teeth or prosthetic, may be necessary and depends upon each case.

Management of tooth avulsion

Complete displacement of a tooth from its socket in the alveolar bone due to trauma or related issues is known as tooth avulsion. Tooth avulsion is considered to be a dental emergency and requires prompt treatment. Certain sports would lead to dental injuries such as rugby, basketball, and similar activities. Custom-made mouth protectors can be used as best protection or preventing the tooth from injuries or damages.

Treatment

Generally, the dentist will clean the socket, wash the teeth, and replant them into their sockets. They would use a saline solution to clean the avulsed permanent tooth. However, the doctor will make sure there is no damage occurring on the surface of the root, which might have living periodontal fiber and cells. Once the cleaning is performed, the doctor would attempt to replant the tooth in its original socket and laser splint after several weeks.

If timely treatment or replacement is not performed for the avulsed teeth, then it might result in a less favorable diagnosis for the tooth. If the mouth is injured or sore, then cleansing the wound may be necessary along with stitches. These stitches would require local anesthesia and a tetanus immunization if the mouth is contaminated with soil. Avulsed primary teeth should not be replanted to avoid damage or permanent dental issues. At times an immediate replant will not be recommended if there are any infections. Medications would be provided to treat the infections initially, and then the treatment would be given. The dentist will remove the dental pulps of the replanted teeth after 10 days of the procedure. A root canal treatment will be performed after this.

For a treatment to be long term, the doctor would recommend simple measures such as good oral hygiene, a soft and cold diet, and stay away from smoking. All these can provide a favorable condition for periodontal ligaments regeneration.

For more information or queries, the team from Srivari Dental Clinic can be of the right assistance. The doctor and his team perform the best and cost-effective dental treatments, especially for tooth avulsion. The team ensures complete satisfaction and provides the promised outcome.

Know the movements of the jaw

The movements of jaw and muscles surrounding them are important as any problem on these indicates Temporomandibular disorder (TMJ / TMD). The temporomandibular joints include tendons, bones, and muscles that help the movement of jaw in connection with chewing, talking, and yawning. This joint is one of the most complex joints in the body that connects the jaw to the temporal bones of the skull.

 TMJ

Notice the signs

Certain signs need to be noticed for early treatment, such as:
  • Severe ear pain
  • The popping of the jaw or clicking
  • Severe pain in the jaw
  • Headache
  • Jaw muscles are stiff
  • Locking of the jaw joint
  • Problems with chewing
  • Severe facial pain

Causes
Based on the cause, the pain on the jaws could occur either on one side or both sides. The causes would include:
  • Injuries on the teeth
  • Injuries to the jaw
  • Misalignment of the jaw or teeth
  • Stress
  • Clenching of the teeth or grinding
  • Chewing gum excessively

Medical care

At times TMJ disorders will get treated on its own. The doctor would suggest various treatments based on the symptoms. If the symptoms persist or get worse, the doctor would recommend surgery.
  • Pain relievers - based on the severity of the condition, the doctor would suggest a pain reliever
  • Tricyclic depressants - the doctor would recommend these medications if the patient suffers sleeplessness and severe pain
  • Muscle relaxants - the pain caused by muscle spasms can be reduced with these relaxants
  • Mouthguards or splints - these would be beneficial for patients with TMD
  • Physical therapy - strengthening and stretching exercises for jaw muscles can help relieve pain caused due to TMD
  • Laser treatment - laser would help reduce the pain and inflammation without the use of medications and it helps to improve the damaged jaw
The doctor would suggest surgery if the above treatments fail. The surgery would include arthrocentesis, injections, arthroscopy, modified condylotomy, and open-joint surgery.

At Srivari Dental Clinic, the doctor identifies and provides the best treatment for problems caused by TMJ disorders. The clinic is equipped with the latest laser treatment as well for a better and speedy recovery.

The Role of Imaging In Smile Dentistry

Dentistry is the only field in medicine that has the power to transform a crooked smile into a flawless one that enhances the beauty of a person. The field of dentistry has come a long way in the past three decades and has witnessed great advances in technology in all its branches. The incorporation of digital X-rays and intraoral cameras in the treatment process has made it easy for doctors to examine the various structure of the patient's mouths effectively. One such area which makes use of precise diagnostic tools and advanced imaging techniques to meet the patient's more demanding aesthetic expectations is smile designing.

Smile Designing

Smile designing is a cosmetic treatment procedure that aims at enhancing the overall appearance and health of the smile. It makes use of the right treatment options to meet the needs of the patient like dental veneers, tooth implants, teeth whitening, and composite bonding. Previously the patients couldn't have a look at their result before the completion of the treatment. But, thanks to the advancement in the imaging techniques that allows the patients the comfort of having a glimpse of their makeover smile before even the procedure starts.

One such technique that makes the patients the co-designer of their treatment by sharing their expectations and aesthetic requirements with the dental team is Digital Smile Design(DSD). DSD is a unique dental planning tool that enhances the care provider's vision, diagnostic ability, and predictability. It improves the communication between the dentist and the patient as the complete treatment plan is based on the thorough analysis of the patient's dental and facial proportions with the help of photos and videos taken at each stage of the treatment.

With the help of DSD videos and mockups, the dentist will get a better understanding of the relationship between the teeth, gums, and lips, as well as how they work together to create a patient's smile. The process of the DSD starts with the complete oral examination followed by treatment identification and discussion. Once the treatment is finalized, a digital photo of the current smile will be taken, and various change factors will be incorporated that provides a glimpse of the changed smile or facial appearance to the patient. Once the patients confirm and agree on the outcome, treatment will be started.

Digital Imaging techniques empower the patients to make informed decisions and provide an opportunity to have a glimpse of their future before committing to the treatment.

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry is used to improve efficiency and eliminate discomfort in several dental procedures, including filling cavities, reducing tooth sensitivity, getting rid of tumors, and whitening. This is the fast and painless method that eliminates any form of bacteria effectively.

Alignment Using Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are orthodontic devices that are a transparent and plastic form of dental braces, compared to the traditional metal braces. These are clear, practically invisible braces that can gently straighten your teeth. Invisalign is the modern way of realigning your teeth more effectively in a comfortable way, in less time with less hassle. These braces are maintenance-friendly -  easy to take out for cleaning and don't require a restriction on what type of food to eat.

Biodentine

Biodentine is a calcium-silicate based material used in various clinical applications, such as root perforations, apexification, resorptions, retrograde fillings, pulp capping, and dentine replacements. This material sets in the applied area within 10 - 12 minutes and has a natural micro mechanical anchorage for excellent sealing properties without surface preparation.

Digital Smile Design (DSD)

DSD is a more advanced dental treatment planning tool to diagnose problems within the mouth and jaw. An orthodontist can take a multi-faceted, conceptual approach to cosmetic dentistry by making use of videos, photographs, and temporary mock-ups. It helps the dentists to achieve excellence, improve accuracy, and boost communication. This helps the patients to be an active participant in the treatment.

VELscope

VELscope is a special type of light that a dentist uses inside the patient's mouth to detect any abnormalities. This new technology is effectively used to identify early forms of cancer or disease during an oral cancer screening and digital smile design.

Dental Implants

These are screw-replacements for the root portion of missing teeth, used to restore the missing teeth. This is an effective surgical fixture that can replace missing teeth, while still giving the patient the feel and look of a natural tooth.

Computer-Controlled Anesthesia

Computer-controlled local anesthetic delivery (CCLAD) or Computer-controlled anesthesia is the method used for reducing the pain during local anesthesia. This method delivers local anesthetic drugs in a slow, controlled manner, to ensure comfort and creates a positive dental experience for patients.

Intraoral Camera

An intraoral camera is a tool for getting a precise and well-defined picture of hard to see places within a patient's mouth. This new form of technology allows dentists to conduct a thorough examination of your mouth and use the images for the patient's assessment and education.

Restorative Dentistry: Restores your Confidence

Do you have a bad tooth? Is that annoying you? Or do you have missing teeth? Do you lack the confidence to smile because of it? Then it's time to consider restorative dentistry as a solution. This dental restoration solution will help to solve your aesthetic problems as well as the unexpected pain from your bad tooth.

best restorative dentistry in chennai

What is restorative dentistry?

The term itself explains its motive of replacing the damaged or missing teeth. Fillings, crowns or caps, bridges and implants are common restorative options. The goal is to bring back your natural smile and prevent future oral health issues.

These restorative methods help you to keep your teeth properly aligned and to provide proper oral health care. It also helps to prevent plaque and problems related to it.

Merits of this method

1. Proper Eating:

People with a bad tooth or a damaged tooth will find it difficult to eat anything. They would usually avoid taking a bite from an apple or a crispy snack or chewing a candy stick. You will avoid parties and functions just because you cannot eat well. Sometimes you will have food partially chewed which later creates gastrointestinal diseases.

All these problems can come to an end after this tooth replacing method. You can live a normal life, eating what you love most and enjoy all the programs.

2. Confident smile

People with a bad tooth often avoid addressing the public. They lack confidence as they have a missing or damaged tooth.

Restorative dentistry can replace your missing teeth and since they appear like the original teeth, none would be the wiser. Therefore, you can smile all the time without anyone knowing that you have had any restorative work done.

3. Maintaining self-assurance

Restorative dentistry can fix your missing tooth or damaged tooth and help you find a way to fix your self-confidence.

4. Long Lasting Solution

Dental restoration procedures often use ceramic or porcelain crowns which are durable and long lasting. When you have a broken tooth and want to avoid gum infections, it is recommended that you consider dental implants. These dental implants also help the old age people in strengthening the jawbone.

5. Proper teeth alignment

If you have any tooth missing, other teeth shift their positions gradually. Restorative dentistry is one way to replace missing teeth and prevent the other teeth from moving from its place.

6. Minimal health issues

A damaged tooth can cause gum diseases and other health issues. Sometimes it can cause oral cancer and heart attack too. Restorative dentistry helps to prevent this.

7. Restore aesthetics

Restorative dentistry helps to restore smiles and beauty with dental crowns, bridges, implants and various other treatments as well.

Why Are Dental Crowns Recommended After A Root Canal?

A root canal treatment is conducted when the pulp chamber in the roots of teeth gets infected or damaged. The pulp chamber contains nerves and blood vessels which can get infected. Once infected it needs to be removed so that it does not cause further damage. Through an RCT the infected pulp is removed by the dentist and filled with unique artificial dental material that is supposed to stay for a long period of time. This artificial filling will stay there for a long period of time if it is properly covered. Here is when crowns are required to provide that extra strength to the teeth structure.

What is the purpose of a crown in RCT?

A broken, damaged or weak tooth needs to undergo surgery. A crown, also known as a tooth cap acts as a shield to protect the weak tooth from falling off or having further damage. The thumb rule in an RCT is to place a crown over the tooth that underwent RCT.

root canal treatment in chennai

Generally, a Root Canal gets completed within 2 sittings. After the pulp chamber is cleaned and filled, in the final sitting the crown or cap is placed on the tooth. The doctor will do an X-Ray to get the exact shape of your teeth structure. Crowns are customized according to the patient's teeth structure.

What are the benefits of a crown or cap?

  • As they are made up of strong metals like zirconia, porcelain or ceramic, they tend to stay for a long period of time. They provide strength to the weak tooth and prevent further damage.
  • Gaps left between the teeth get filled by the help of customized crowns.
  • They help to improve teeth appearance.
  • Provides natural look as they are customized to match the colour and shape of your actual teeth.
  • Provides better dental occlusion.

Do you have sensitive teeth?

Do you have teeth bleeding while brushing, eating hot food and drinking cold milk? Do you get a severe but temporary pain when you are engaged in any of these activities? Sensitive teeth occur due to worn tooth enamel and decayed tooth roots. The discomfort can also be a result of tooth cavity, gum disease, cracked tooth etc. In short, worn enamel, gums, and cavities, decaying etc cause hypersensitivity in conditions such as heat and cold. Around 57% of the population irrespective of gender and age suffer from tooth sensitivity.

How Sensitive Tooth Occurs?

1. Teeth grinding
2. Cavities
3. Broken/Worn/ New dental work
4. Worn enamel
5. Brushing too hard
6. Whitening or bleaching
7. Acidic food and soda
8. Exposed tooth root
https://www.chennaidentalclinic.in/sensitive-tooth.html

Types of Dental Sensitivity

Dentinal Sensitivity and related Treatment

The middle layer of the tooth called Dentin is coated by enamel and cementum above and below the gum line respectively. Tubules normally extend from tooth pulp to dentins. These dentins consist of nerves and they are exposed when the enamel is damaged. It leads to more sensitivity. It can occur mainly because of improper dental hygiene, untreated cavities, and unhygienic food habits. After proper cleaning of teeth, a fluoride layer is applied just over the teeth so that the sensitivity can be reduced to a certain extent. In order to block the tubules, highly recommended products by dentists such as dental sealants, tooth retainers are used. The tubules are then altered by laser beam.

Pulpal Sensitivity

The pulp in the tooth is affected due to the grinding of teeth, infection or decay in the region, improper filling. The damaged nerves are removed and a non-reactive substance is placed.

Prevention

Brushing teeth twice day using toothpaste with medium levels of abrasives will help reduce the sensitivity. Staying away from acidic foods and drinks are another option.

When Is A Root Canal Treatment Necessary?

How many of you had really bad days dealing with a toothache? An aching tooth is probably the worst kind of pain that anyone can suffer. The pain maybe due to an infection in the tooth or the gums.

https://www.chennaidentalclinic.in/root-canal-treatment.html

Such infections are very common and so is the root canal procedure which is used to alleviate the pain from tooth infections.

Many of us get nightmares when we think of root canal treatments because it is assumed to be very painful. But a trained surgeon can skillfully treat the infection with proper methods.

What is a Root Canal Treatment?

When a tooth is infected, it means that the nerves and pulp inside the tooth are infected. The dental treatment which involves removing the infection from a tooth is known as root canal treatment or endodontic therapy. The pulp of the tooth is the root canal, and the infected area is cleaned.

The nerve tissue, blood vessels, and other cells constitute the pulp of the tooth, which are normally removed in this procedure. The tooth is cleaned, fillings are done and sealed with a crown.

When should you get a root canal treatment done?

If you are having these symptoms, it’s better to run to your dentist and get your teeth checked:
  1. Constant pain while eating and chewing food
  2. Serious pain when you put pressure on a particular area in your gums
  3. Sensitivity to hot or cold drinks, or food items, where tooth starts to tingle or feel painful
  4. If you find a small bump, similar to a pimple, near the area of the pain
  5. If the tooth starts to darken and lose its original colour
  6. If there is a swelling near the gums near the area where it is painful
  7. Tenderness near the tooth which is aching
  8. An unattended cavity can, later on, lead to a tooth infection which will need a root canal treatment.
The earlier a root canal treatment is done, easier it is to save a tooth. Saving the natural tooth is much better and less costly than getting implants.

Proper After Care For Dental Implants – How To Increase Your Implant Longevity?

Dental Implants

A dental implant is the latest technique where the dental implants are secured in the jaw bone, just like the roots of your teeth. They won’t be visible once surgically placed. Unlike dentures, which comes loose, dental implants are surgically positioned onto the jaw bone.
These help in maintaining the shape of the jaw bone as well as the facial skeleton. Through dental implants, you will get your natural smile back which in turn improves your social, psychological and physical well-being.

Proper after-care methods for your Dental Implants

You should take proper care of your dental implants similar to how you would protect your natural teeth. The implant should also be kept clean and should be free from plaque through flossing and brushing twice a day. Brushing after meals is very important too. Here are some important tips for you to keep in mind if you have dental implants in your mouth.

1. It is better to avoid very hot or cold drinks just after the surgery. Waiting for a few days is better.
2. Brushing should be done very carefully where the surgery has been done.
3. After the dental implant has healed normal oral hygiene methods can be adopted.
4. Brush twice a day with a soft bristled tooth-brush.
5. Flossing is very important.
6. Using a good mouthwash keeps the bacteria away.
7. Always try to brush well after having food.
8. Always try to maintain good oral hygiene.

You Deserve a Broad Smile - Multiple Tooth Implants

When many teeth are missing, then the implant supported bridges help to replace them. Dental implants replace the lost natural teeth and some of the roots.

Multiple tooth implant types:

Removable partial denture (RPD) is an alternative to an implant to replace the missing teeth. It contains the artificial teeth fixed at the plastic base and it is joined by a metal frame. This frame helps in upholding the denture in the mouth.

RPDs replace one or more teeth while all the teeth are replaced with full dentures. However, wearing RPD may be difficult while eating hard stuff foods.

RPDs replace one or more teeth while all the teeth are replaced with full dentures. However, wearing RPD may be difficult while eating hard stuff  foods.

Multiple teeth supported fixed bridge is a conventional tooth replacement option. This procedure comprises all the impediments and risk of a single tooth bridge. Problems such as Root canal infections, periodontal bone loss, decay and bone atrophy can worsen the teeth condition since more teeth are involved. Regrettably, large bridge fails faster than a single tooth bridge.
multiple tooth implants

Implant supported bridge is like a regular dental bridge, but it is supported by implants instead of natural teeth. This support halts bone deterioration. Implant supported bridge is better than RPDs and Multiple teeth supported fixed bridge.

How are the implants placed?

Implants which look like cylinders and screws are placed into the jaw. After two to six months, the bone and implants are allowed for bonding to form anchors. A temporary teeth replacement can be done over the implant sites during the time gap.

As a second step, the implants are exposed and extensions are attached. The temporary healing caps complete the foundation on which new teeth are placed. At least for a couple of weeks gums are allowed to heal after the said procedure.

Finally, the patient is fixed with replacement teeth or bridges and attached to tiny metal posts called abutments.

After a short phase, the patient will apparently experience his restored teeth confidence in smile and ability to speak, chew, and eat.

Why choose Laser Root Canal treatment???

Laser easily cut the teeth without any side effects and does not generate heat or vibration during the procedure. While cutting the tooth, the decay removal is necessitated. The decayed portion is cleaned effectively after cutting the tooth. Finally, fillings could be applied to the cleaned portion.

The laser beam plays a great role in killing bacteria during the root canal. Firstly, the correct wavelength which has to be used to sterilize and kill the bacteria is decided. Then the accurate wavelength of laser beam is produced and passed over the area where the bacteria are accumulated. In this Laser disinfection in root canal treatment, about 99.8% bacteria are killed. The success rate of root canal treatment depends on the rate of destruction.

Trauma
Tooth cracks and breaks lead to the chances of root canal treatment since the cracked or broken tooth expose the pulp chamber, damage the nerve and cause pain.

Invisalign - Correct teeth misalignment without compromising on beauty

Perfectness, when it comes to teeth is often overrated. In fact there might only be a handful of those, lucky enough to have a perfect set of teeth, without any external intervention. With Srivari Dental Clinic equipped in invisalign for teeth in Ramapuram, it is now easier to rein in wayward teeth.

Crooked and wayward teeth can be corrected with the help of orthodontic braces, yet most of us shy away from it for its effect on our appearance and all the pain and discomfort associated with fixing it. Invisalign offers a solution for these issues with its clear and removable properties.

What is Invisalign?

An advanced alternative for the conventional orthodontic metal braces, invisalign are clear or transparent devices that are custom made to fit in with the patient’s teeth. They are removable and offer better comfort and convenience than the traditional braces.

Invisalign are not easily detectable due to their clear and transparent nature. Hence, they do not affect our aesthetics as much as the traditional braces do. They also do not affect chewing or cause inconveniences such as difficulty in brushing or food sticking to the braces.

Invisalign does not require metal wires or brackets to align the teeth. However, they need to be popped out and altered in two weeks to carry out the alignment process. They bring about the required result in about 12 to 18 months.

What makes Invisalign the new favourite?
Invisalign was developed with the idea of easing the process of teeth straightening. Apart from correcting the teeth alignment through a painless procedure, invisalign also helps better speech and chewing. They are not easily discoloured and are scratch free as well. They do not hinder eating and are easy to remove and replace.

Why Srivari?

Invisalign is a relatively new treatment technique in dentistry. The efficiency and out of the treatment is greatly dependent on the skill and experience of the doctor handling it for you and the infrastructure of the clinic you opt for. You can be assured of both at Srivari Dental Clinic. They are well acclaimed for treatment with orthodontic appliances at Ramapuram.
